These men are not jolly tars: they are as mean a bunch of pressed men as you could wish to meet, with snarling faces, their hair in long queues, and armed to what teeth they have left with swords, dirks, flintlock pistols, muskets, and blunderbusses. The officer remains aloof from the action.
