13th century men-at-arms
Contrary to what one might expect, the padded coats worn by men-at-arms of this period are thought to have been quite colourful, employing pastel shades of red, blue, green, yellow and buff, with red the most popular colour.
The polearm with the long, curved blade is known as a glaive.
